The F4 Visa for U.S. immigration is a family preference visa that allows U.S. citizens aged 21 and older to sponsor their siblings, along with their spouses and unmarried children under 21, to reunite and live in the U.S. This legal pathway enables foreigners to become U.S. permanent residents (Green Card holders) based on specific family relationships.

Each year, 65,000 F4 visas are issued, in addition to any unused FS1, F2, and F3 visas from that year.
Visa FS1: U.S. citizens can sponsor unmarried children over 21 years old.
Visa F2: U.S. permanent residents can sponsor their spouses and unmarried children.
Visa F3: U.S. citizens can sponsor their married children
 

Types of F4 Visas Granted 

F41: For the primary beneficiary (siblings of U.S. citizens).
F42: For the spouse of F41 visa holders.
F43: For unmarried children under 21 of F41 visa holders.
 

Conditions for Applying for F4 Visa

Sponsor: Must be a U.S. citizen (not a permanent resident), at least 21 years old, living in the U.S
Financial: The sponsor must prove financial capability to support the beneficiary.
Relationship: Must demonstrate the familial relationship with the beneficiary.

F4 Visa Application Process

Step 1: The sponsor submits Form I-130 with relationship proof to USCIS, processing time is 8-11 years.

Step 3: Submit documents to NVC and pay applicable fees. The sponsor must prove financial capability via form I-864.
Step 4: NVC sends interview invitation to the beneficiary.
Step 5: The beneficiary undergoes a medical exam and prepares for the interview at the U.S. Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City.
Step 6: Attend the interview; if eligible, the visa is granted.

As of November 2023, there are 2,199,512 pending F4 visa applications, with only 65,000 issued annually, leading to long wait times. Favorable countries face wait times over 17 years, with even longer delays for the Philippines (20 years) and Mexico (22 years).

I-130 filing fee: $625 (online) / $675 (paper).
DS-260 processing fee: $345 per person.
USD I-864 processing fee: $120.
Medical exam fees: $275 (adults), $240 (children aged 2-15), $165 (children under 2).
Green card fee: $235
Biometrics fee: $85.
 
Other potential costs include attorney fees, document retrieval, translation, and notarization.
